Printer problems

Just visited a lady who’s printer refused to print black, even with a new black cartridge. Looks like she isn’t the only one with this problem 🙁

See this HP discussion

The printer is three years old and not under warranty. Is it worth trying to repair it? Probably not but beware of under used inkjet printers as they are very difficult to get working after the dried ink has clogged them up.

  • Use your ink jet printer every couple of days at least.
  • Never leave empty ink cartridges in your printer. Replace cartridges immediately.
  • Replace ink cartriges if they are six months old, even if there is ink remaining in them

If your printer isn’t printing properly or there are lines on the printout or fading then there is usually a cleaning routine on the printer’s software that can get it back to normal. Laser printers are more forgiving.
